Remember that scene from the movie Cocktail?

You know the scene, the one where they're making the cocktails behind the bar.  The bartenders are hot, the music is loud, and the bottles are flying.  The book I want to share with you just might have a similar scene. I have re-read Boycotts and Barflies by Victoria Michaels too many times to count.  This book is one of my absolute favorites because when I read it, I laugh. Every. Single. Time.  Boycotts and Barflies has become like an old friend. When my brain is mush and I want to read, but not necessarily anything new, this is the book I pick up....or turn on;)  I found this book by accident a couple of years ago, and just fell in love with it.  It's kinda cheesy (like me), kinda funny(like I attempt to be) and just an overall fun book.  I compare it to an episode of Friends; no deep thinking, just pure enjoyment.  I kinda love Victoria Michaels, she just doesn't know it yet.

Here's the blurb:
After an endless string of bad dates and a generally pathetic love life, Grace Park and her friends decide to boycott men for six weeks. With a fantastic pair of shoes on the line for the woman who makes it to the end without breaking any rules, the competition gets fierce. Sparks fly a few days into the bet when Grace and her friends cross paths with a sexy bartender named Michael Andris who happens to have a little bet of his own going with his friends.... In this hilarious debut novel, Victoria Michaels brings us a colorful and relatable cast of characters. She sends them on a sweet and sexy escapade as they sidestep one booby trap after another, manage the best of misguided intentions, and exert a whole lot of willpower and self control as they race down the path to true love. Winning isn't everything...or is it?

The story flows well, it's well written, and has great character development. The cast of characters are goofy and fun.  Each character is different and contributes to the book in a special way. The romance between Michael and Grace is funny, sweet and makes me smile. As I read Boycotts and Barflies, it just plays in my head like a favorite sitcom that I can watch over and over.  The steamy-ness is mild with a few modest tasteful scenes. If you decide to read Boycotts and Barflies I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

When I read, I read for enjoyment.  Reading is my stress reliever.  I don't think everything I read needs to be perfect, because I'm not.  If I read something, and I connect with it, that's all that matters to me.  I will confess, I'm nervous when people say they trust my recommendations. I tend to be a people pleaser and fear disappointing people, but I know it is inevitable.  My goal for creating this blog is to share what I love with others and share without fear. I would love to hear from you! Let me know what you like, what you don't like, or send me your recommendations.

I'm doing my first contest ever! One winner (U.S only please) will win a signed paperback copy of Boycotts and Barflies that Victoria has been kind enough to donate. I will gift another winner an e-book copy of Boycotts and Barflies!  2 prizes 2 winners!! To win enter the rafflecopter below!
