My Hunt for the Big Bad Wolf....and my love of Jason Vanderholt

I have loved this series by E.M. Tippetts from the very beginning, and the first book, Someone Else's Fairytale, is one that I have re-read many times.  I may or may not have a huge book boyfriend crush on the hero, Jason Vanderholt...  This is a series that just keeps getting better and better and the storyline is unique, mysterious and will keep you guessing! Check out the blurb:

Chloe knew she was giving up the quiet life when she married Hollywood A-lister, Jason Vanderholt. She expected harassment from paparazzi but not from the writers of Blood Ritual, a television crime drama that brought national attention to a tough case she is trying to solve as a forensic scientist. While she and the rest of the Albuquerque Police Department once collaborated with the show, now relations have gone sour, and details that the police are trying to keep secret in the investigation are cropping up in episodes of a show watched by millions.

If that weren’t enough, everyone in Chloe’s life seems to be going through a rough patch, from her best friend, Lori, who is trying to plan a wedding, to her niece Kyra who is upset about Jason’s choice of television roles, to Jason himself who is inexplicably moody and withdrawn. None of this drama is the type of thing Chloe knows how to resolve.

She is trained to do one thing: hunt down the big bad wolves of the world, but with her connections to fame compromising her work, she may not even be allowed to stay on the case. The clock is ticking as law enforcement agencies across the country try to find a serial killer before he strikes again. Chloe is faced with a choice, to help catch one of the most evil criminals in history, or provide support to the friends and family who have always been there for her. Either way, she knows she might make the mistake of a lifetime.

When I began the book I knew I would enjoy it, but I had no clue that the story would immediately suck me in and make it hard to put down!  E.M. Tippetts has such a talent at writing a sweet romance, but also making the focus of the book on the careers of these two people and how sometimes art imitates life.  The storyline, to me, was not predictable and had me guessing until the end.  I was reminded again and again of why I love Jason and Chloe and how their life and love is written with a realistic feel and not always a perfect fairytale.  I think even if you haven't read the other books in the series, you could easily read this book and not feel as though you are missing a huge part of the story. I suggest you do read them in order so you can experience the huge scope of these characters and understand their motives, but it isn't absolutely necessary.  While this book does deal with some heavy subject matter, E.M. Tippetts is great at not bringing the reader down and presenting it in such a way that you feel as though you are watching an episode of CSI or NCIS.  Give this book a try and come back and let me know what you think!
