Crossing the Ice by Jennifer Comeaux

Falling hard never felt so good.

Pair skaters Courtney and Mark have one shot left at their Olympic dream. They vow not to let anything get in their way, especially not Josh and Stephanie, the wealthy and talented brother and sister team.

The heart doesn’t always listen to reason, though...

The more time Courtney spends with sweet, shy Josh, the harder she falls for him. But they are on opposite sides of the competition, and their futures are headed in opposite directions. Will their friendship blossom into more or are their paths too different to cross?

I love watching ice skating, there is romance, passionate music and pure joy on the faces of the skaters. There is a feeling of excitement that I feel while watching these athletes skate and I love that they make it  look so easy.  Reading Jennifer Comeaux's Crossing the Ice had me feeling that same excitement.  There are mentions of great songs, Jennifer describes the love and fear of participating in a sport you love, and obviously a great romance all built into this story.  Josh and Courtney are competing in pairs ice skating, hoping for a spot to the Olympics, the only problem is that they are paired with different partners and those partners don't want these love birds together.  The love story between Josh and Courtney was so sweet and real.  The resistance they experienced by those around them was tough and when they competed at the World Finals, I found myself crying in both disappointment and joy.  Jennifer did a great job at developing these characters and you could feel the competitive emotions of participating in a sport where results change in the blink of an eye and winning can be determined by a tenth of a point.  The story moves along smoothly and I found myself starting and finishing the book in the same day.  I will definitely be purchasing Jennifer's other ice skating romances in this series.  This is a stand alone, no cliffhanger.  Steamy-ness is light, but contains enough heat to make your heart race.
