Meet Quinn and Janie

An Interview with Quinn and Janie from Neanderthal Seeks Human and the soon to be released, Neanderthal Marries Human

Hey everyone!!  Summer is here, school is out and I've decided to pay a special visit to two of my very favorite people, Quinn and Janie.  I just arrived at Quinn's office for the interview.  When I talked to Quinn's right hand woman, Betty, she promised Janie would be at the office too. **knocks on the open door and walks into Janie's office**

Angie:  Hey guys, am I interrupting?  I'm so excited that I get to interview you today! **Shakes Quinn's hand** Quinn, what a nice office.  *blushes*I don't think I've ever been frisked before an interview before, but, Dan's kinda cute, so no harm done. Oh and by the way, I totally have a permit for that gun. I do get it back when I leave, right??  Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions.   Prepare yourselves, because I have given these questions serious thought and you're going to have to dig deep for these answers.*smiles mischievously*  First and most important question, Quinn do you think you will ever learn how to knit?

Quinn: No. Next question.

Angie: **Mumbles to herself** Nico knits and it's kinda hot....Ahem. Okaaaay.  Janie, you and Quinn have been working together for several months, how do you like working with him?

Janie:  It’s really good! I like it. He’s very to-the-point, which I prefer. When I’m at work I want to work. It makes me a little nuts when people want to stop by and chit-chat, because I always end up saying something inappropriate and then the conversation just… ends. And then they stop making eye contact with me.
For example, a woman at my previous workplace was telling me that she’d just purchased a Scarlet Macaw. They are lovely birds, but I question anyone who would have one as a pet. I told her about how parrot rescue groups estimate that most parrots are surrendered and rehomed at least five homes before reaching their permanent destinations or before dying prematurely from unintentional or intentional neglect and abuse. She became very upset. So I tried to calm her down by telling her I thought she’d make an excellent owner and asked her if she’d made arrangements in her will for the parrot after she died, because she was in fifty-nine and had just purchased the bird. So, obviously and if she were a responsible owner, the Scarlet Macaw was going to outlive her as they live up to seventy-five years in captivity.

She abruptly left and never talked to me again.

Angie: *blinks several times* Wow!  Janie, your vast knowledge of trivial facts always leaves me speechless.  **Turns to Quinn**  Quinn, since we're talking about it, what is the best/favorite trivia fact that you have learned from Janie?

Quinn:  Recently I learned that there is an annual feline beauty contest in Bucharest. The winner gets a crown. Over two hundred cats participate… *lifts his eyebrows*

Angie:  That's......interesting.  Apparently I need to spend some time on Google...In Neanderthal Seeks Human, Quinn and Janie "officially" meet at a club opening.  At this club were a few questionable people and when Elizabeth was called to the hospital, Quinn asked Janie to go home and not stay at the club alone.  She didn't listen.  Quinn, I've always wondered, what was your first thought when you found out Janie didn’t leave the club the night of the opening?

Quinn:  I thought I was going to have to kill someone.  I’d asked the guys at the door to let me know if she came back. They did, but she was already upstairs.

Angie:  When you found Janie had been given a drug and wasn't herself, why take her back to your sister’s apartment and not yours?

Quinn:  I took her back to Shelly’s place because I never bring women to my home. At the time, Janie was a woman. Not much later, she became Janie, the woman.

Angie:  So Quinn, when did you know that Janie was “the one”?

Quinn:  I don’t want to answer this question. Next question.

Janie:  You have to answer it. We promised we’d answer every question.

Quinn:  *Stares at Janie, jaw ticks* Fine. It was when we were at Grant Park and she asked me what kind of magical creatures I would want if I had magic sperm. Then she offered to be my personal sperm repository.

Janie:  Now tell her why. *Janie grins*

Quinn:  *Quinn, with no inflection in his voice, says* Because I’d never been so stunned, speechless, and turned on at the same time.

Janie:  I love that story!

Angie:  Me too!! **Stares dreamily at Quinn** Quinn, has anyone ever told you that you look like David Gandy?  No?  Huh. Well you do and Janie is a very lucky lady.  **Continues to stare dreamily** Oh, sorry, I got a little distracted. **looks at notes**  Where was I?  Quinn, has anyone ever told you that you look like...Sorry! Sorry! I keep getting distracted.  Janie, how do you not lose your train of thought when Quinn looks at you?? *shakes head slightly* Ok, I think I'm good.  I know y'all are planning your wedding.  Janie, what do you think is the perfect wedding gift for Quinn?

Janie:  Me naked.  Sorry. That might be vulgar, but it’s all he seems to want.

Quinn:  That’s true *He smiles*

Angie:  Quinn, what is the perfect wedding gift for Janie?

Quinn:  A trip to any library

Janie:  *laughs* That’s so true!

Angie:  I love how well you know one another!  Now, this is the speed round.  I'm going to ask you a question and you both are going to give me the first answer that comes to mind.
What are your biggest fears?

Quinn:  Being corrupted by power.
Janie:  Coming to like and/or rely on my cell phone.

Angie:  Boxers or Briefs? Commando or undies?
Quinn: Boxers
Janie:  Panties! Sexy lace panties!! All the time.
Quinn: Liar.

Angie:  Beer ,Wine or Whiskey?
Quinn:  Texas whiskey
Janie:  Wine. But my favorite is lemon drop shots.
Angie:  I've never had a lemon drop, but Quinn, *winks* I can totally hook you up with some Texas Whiskey. Back to the speed round.  Night or Morning person?
Quinn:  Both
Janie:  Neither.  I like to sleep.

Angie:  Batman or Superman? Cat woman or Wonder Woman?
Quinn:  Batman
Janie:  Wonder Woman

Angie:  Islands or Mountains? Beach or Snow?
Quinn:  Mountains, Snow
Janie:   All of the above. I can’t choose. I love it all.

Angie:  Last question for the speed round.  Paperback or e-book?
Quinn:  E-book
Janie:  Paperback

Angie:  That was great!!  Okay, one final question because inquiring minds *mumbles* especially mine, *louder*  want to know. Quinn, how do you feel about girls who carry guns?
Quinn:  I am for guns as long as they don’t belong to idiots.
Angie:  How about Texas girls who carry guns? Specifically blonde petite Texas girls who carry guns? ;)
Quinn:  I am especially for any Texan not named Sandra owning a gun.
Angie:  **smiling** Good answer!  I knew you were my favorite!  Janie, I want to thank you and Quinn for allowing me to bother you at work.  I sincerely love the both of you and can't wait for everyone to read about your wedding in Neanderthal Marries Human!

Whispering Wishes by Jennifer Miller

I love Jennifer Miller.  Absolutely. Love. Her.  Jennifer's books have humor, hot guys, and lots of steamy romance.  When she asked me if I would like an ARC of Whispering Wishes I didn't hesitate to say yes.  I loved her previous books, Pretty Little Lies and Pretty Little Dreams, so I couldn't wait to read her newest creation. Whispering Wishes will be officially released May 28th.  Here's the blurb:

Be careful what you wish for...

Normally, Aspen Edwards will do anything for her free-spirited best friend, Mischa, but this feels like a bit much. The plan is simple, all Aspen has to do is write down a few affirmations and recite them during the New Moon. But as skeptical as Aspen is, a promise is a promise. So, she whispers each wish to the universe, pondering the possibilities of "what if." Who wouldn't want a promotion at work, a new home, or to become an irresistible sex goddess?

But Aspen’s luck doesn't change with the wishes, or the wind. Each of her whispered prayers produces disaster. She gets fired. Her car breaks down. She gets kicked out of her house. And of course there is the crap icing on the cake of doom, falling for flirtatious and sexy, Wes, who sees her as nothing more than his “little sis”. It might not be so bad if his house weren't the only place she had to go.

Unbeknownst to her, the universe has a few tricks up its sleeve, and Aspen's bad luck streak might just be putting her right where she needs to be!

What I love about Jennifer's heroines is that they are always so relate-able.  They're not perfect, funny things happen to them and they always get the hot guy.  In Whispering Wishes we meet Aspen and she has horrible luck.  Haven't we all had one of those days that everything just seems to go wrong and you find yourself shaking your fist and screaming "why me?" at the bad luck fairy? No? Just me? If I had been Aspen, I think I would have hunted down that damn bad luck fairy and taken her down! Aspen's luck begins to change when she meets Wes. Don't get me wrong, her luck still stinks, but she has Wes, along with her best friend Mischa to help her through it.  I loved the way Jennifer introduced Wes into the story and the banter in that scene is hilarious.  I fell in love with him from the very beginning.  Wes is wonderful, swoon worthy, and NICE! Yes, he rides a motorcycle and yes, he wears a leather jacket and has a mohawk, but that's where the bad boy stops.  He is a good guy, doesn't have mommy/daddy issues, and has a job.  Despite Aspen's run of bad luck, she has a pretty normal life too. This is such a nice change from the popular story lines that everyone seems to be favoring lately.  In Jennifer's third book, she proves that she doesn't need to conform to typical contemporary story lines to create a book that readers will love and that will stand out from the rest.  She knows how to write a hilarious and very steamy romance that will have you not wanting to put it down until you've finished.  Her writing is witty and fast paced with well developed characters.  I highly recommmend Whispering Wishes and encourage you to check out all of Jennifer Miller's books.  You won't be disappointed.  Whispering Wishes is a stand alone with no cliffhanger.

Cover Reveal: His Reverie by Monica Murphy

We are so excited to share the cover for Monica Murphy's HIS REVERIE!!!
HIS REVERIE is a Young Adult Contemporary Romance novel!
His Reverie

I knew from the moment I first saw her she was the one. The only girl I could ever want.
His Reverie Teaser
The only girl I could ever love.
She is light.
I am darkness.
She is innocent.
I’ve done too much.
She is good.
I am bad.
She is my every dream.
I should be her every nightmare.
We come from different worlds. She’s…perfect. And I’m…

Somehow she wants me anyway. So we’ll grasp at what we can. We’re going to make this summer count. She’s my secret. And I’m hers.

The problem with secrets is they never last for long. And when others discover we’re together, they’ll do whatever it takes to keep us apart.

All I know is: I won’t let them.

Because Reverie Hale? She’s mine.

I jump at the sound of a soft female voice, my hand jerking so the hose splashes me right in the face. Muttering a curse, I drop the hose and reach out blindly, wrenching the faucet off with one hand as I swipe at my eyes with the back of the other. I hear the girl laugh and I whirl around, fully prepared to find some bratty preteen Hale daughter mocking me.

But she’s not a preteen. Not even close. More like around my age. She’s tall and slender, her long blonde hair falling far past bared tan shoulders. She’s wearing some sort of sundress or whatever you call it and she’s pretty much covered since it hits just above her knees, though her arms are exposed since the dress is sleeveless. The sun catches her just right though, shining through the thin fabric of her skirt so I can see through it.

My gaze drops and all I can see is long, long legs through the shadowy fabric. Damn. Those sexy legs are endless. She clears her throat, like she knows exactly where I’m looking and what I’m thinking and I jerk my gaze up guiltily to meet hers, feeling like a jackass.

That’s when I notice her eyes are blue. As blue as the sky above us, and she’s so damn pretty, with delicate features and pink, pink lips, that I can’t seem to form words.

“Who are you?” she asks curiously. Her voice washes over me, sweet and melodic and now it’s my turn to clear my throat to get the lump out so I can freaking speak.

“Who are you?” I ask back like an idiot.

She smiles shyly and my entire body reacts, a bolt of electricity seeming to go through me. “I asked first.”

“Are you Hale’s daughter?” If she is, that sucks because holy hell she’s hot but yeah.

She’s completely untouchable if she’s a Hale.

“What if I am?” She kicks at the ground with her sandaled foot, her cheeks coloring the faintest pink. Innocence radiates from her. She looks like a damn angel and seems a little uncomfortable with me.

Despite her seeming discomfort, I think she might be trying to flirt with me.

“Well, I’d make sure and be extra polite to you since I work for your dad.” I go with the truth because I don’t want any problems from this girl. I probably shouldn’t even be alone with her. She could say anything, accuse me of something terrible and I’d have no defense. Her word against mine.

And her word would win every single time.

Another laugh escapes her and she slowly shakes her head. “I like your honesty.”

I like everything about her so far but I keep my lips clamped shut. I’ve already said enough to make myself look like a total loser.“So I’m guessing you’re definitely Hale’s daughter?”

Review: High Octane: Ignited by Rachel Cross

I have read several books by Rachel Cross and enjoy her as a writer.  Her stories are fast paced and very steamy.  High Octane: Ignited is her latest release.  I was lucky to receive an ARC for a honest review.

Everyone’s fueled by something…

Cassidy Miller was living her dreams as an EMS helicopter pilot saving lives in Arizona but it all came crashing down. Suspended from her job and desperate to escape memories of that night, she jets to Europe and is swept along on a whirlwind world tour of Formula One racing courtesy of her father, an executive sponsor of a team. The last thing she needs is to get involved with a driver, who thrives on risk.

Sexy, daredevil British driver Ronan Hawes has no room in his life for anything but winning. Strategy meetings, press conferences, practices, sponsor events, and racing consume him. Halfway through the season, he’s on track to win the Formula One World Drivers Championship—a title that has eluded him for years—and no emotionally damaged woman, felon father, rookie rival, or rumor mill are going to run him off course.

From Brussels to Abu Dhabi, Texas to Germany, their relationship speeds across the globe, navigating the dangerous turns of life, love and racing.

I really liked the relationship between Cassie and Ronan.  Cassie is a strong independent woman who has experienced a life altering tragedy and is coping the only way she knows how.  Ronan is at the top of his career, but past family issues are pressing down on him.  Together they are learning to lean on one another and realize they can't do it all by themselves.  They are two mature adults that are drawn together and immediately the sparks fly.  I did feel like Cassie and Ronan's romance started off quickly and had a hard time seeing the depth of their relationship.  It was mostly physical in the beginning.  As the story progressed you see that their connection is not only physical, but that they have become friends and confidants.  There is no major problem that has you screaming, "Don't do that!" while hiding behind your eyes.  There is a slight misunderstanding, but I feel the angst in this story is believable, and handled in a mature manner.  If you like lots of steamy-ness with your stories, this is the right one for you. Steamy-ness is high and frequent.  While the story was a little too steamy for me at times, the pace was great and it held my attention.

Remember that scene from the movie Cocktail?

You know the scene, the one where they're making the cocktails behind the bar.  The bartenders are hot, the music is loud, and the bottles are flying.  The book I want to share with you just might have a similar scene. I have re-read Boycotts and Barflies by Victoria Michaels too many times to count.  This book is one of my absolute favorites because when I read it, I laugh. Every. Single. Time.  Boycotts and Barflies has become like an old friend. When my brain is mush and I want to read, but not necessarily anything new, this is the book I pick up....or turn on;)  I found this book by accident a couple of years ago, and just fell in love with it.  It's kinda cheesy (like me), kinda funny(like I attempt to be) and just an overall fun book.  I compare it to an episode of Friends; no deep thinking, just pure enjoyment.  I kinda love Victoria Michaels, she just doesn't know it yet.

Here's the blurb:
After an endless string of bad dates and a generally pathetic love life, Grace Park and her friends decide to boycott men for six weeks. With a fantastic pair of shoes on the line for the woman who makes it to the end without breaking any rules, the competition gets fierce. Sparks fly a few days into the bet when Grace and her friends cross paths with a sexy bartender named Michael Andris who happens to have a little bet of his own going with his friends.... In this hilarious debut novel, Victoria Michaels brings us a colorful and relatable cast of characters. She sends them on a sweet and sexy escapade as they sidestep one booby trap after another, manage the best of misguided intentions, and exert a whole lot of willpower and self control as they race down the path to true love. Winning isn't everything...or is it?

The story flows well, it's well written, and has great character development. The cast of characters are goofy and fun.  Each character is different and contributes to the book in a special way. The romance between Michael and Grace is funny, sweet and makes me smile. As I read Boycotts and Barflies, it just plays in my head like a favorite sitcom that I can watch over and over.  The steamy-ness is mild with a few modest tasteful scenes. If you decide to read Boycotts and Barflies I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

When I read, I read for enjoyment.  Reading is my stress reliever.  I don't think everything I read needs to be perfect, because I'm not.  If I read something, and I connect with it, that's all that matters to me.  I will confess, I'm nervous when people say they trust my recommendations. I tend to be a people pleaser and fear disappointing people, but I know it is inevitable.  My goal for creating this blog is to share what I love with others and share without fear. I would love to hear from you! Let me know what you like, what you don't like, or send me your recommendations.

I'm doing my first contest ever! One winner (U.S only please) will win a signed paperback copy of Boycotts and Barflies that Victoria has been kind enough to donate. I will gift another winner an e-book copy of Boycotts and Barflies!  2 prizes 2 winners!! To win enter the rafflecopter below!

Daniel's Decision by Nicole Flockton

Life in the small town of Emerald Springs, Washington, is anything but slow and peaceful. An old feud between former business partners Whitman and Sanders keeps competition on a high burner, fueling resentment, renewing rivalries … and love. Now someone is trying to bring down Emerald Tea Farm, and it’s up to both families to protect their future while still wrangling over the past.

Daniel Whitman has a plan to turn the family resort into an exclusive eco-friendly resort, but his family thinks the timing is wrong. Undaunted, he heads off to Australia to investigate an award-winning spa. He’s immediately attracted to marketing manager Rochelle Harris but pushes it aside to concentrate on business.

After growing up with a mother who frittered away every penny her father earned, Rochelle’s only goal is to become financially secure without relying on anyone. Her innovative ideas put her resort at the top of its field, and she doesn’t need a sexy, attractive American distracting her from her plans.

The more time they spend together, the more the attraction grows. Then a disaster back home has consequences even Daniel’s not prepared for. Rochelle is left to pick up the pieces of her shattered dreams. Can either of them start their lives over or will circumstances beyond their control force them both to take a risk and trust again?

Rochelle waited for Daniel to return to the balcony. She’d originally thought his offer meant in-the-bedroom type of dessert. She certainly hadn’t expected him to get up, go back into the room, and actually bring out food.
“I saw this on the menu and was intrigued by it.”
He was carrying a plate with a meringue confection topped with fresh whipped cream, fresh strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Her mouth started watering.
“Oh you’re going to love it. Pavlova is delicious. It’s my favorite dessert, and I have to stop myself from ordering it each night.”
“Great. I was hoping you’d say you liked it.” He gave her look that suggested he had something wicked in mind, and it involved the sweet concoction in his hands. “I thought we could share.”
She couldn’t stop the shiver of anticipation traveling through her body, and it wasn’t from the thought of eating Pavlova. “Sounds great,” she croaked.
He sat down next to her, holding the plate in one hand. “Do you want some more wine before we start?”
“No, I’m good, thanks.” She didn’t think she needed anything to make her lightheaded; she was halfway there.
His movements were precise as he dipped the spoon into the dessert, scooping up a generous portion of the layers and holding it out to her. She leaned in, and as delicately as she could, closed her lips around the spoon before sliding them off. The smooth cream was the first thing to hit her taste buds, and it was quickly followed by the berries’ tartness and then the combination of the meringue’s gooiness and the crispiness of the outer shell. She closed her eyes and moaned. It was so delicious, and this was the reason she didn’t order it every night. When she swallowed and opened her eyes, they locked on Daniel’s.
“Wow,” he whispered and stuck the spoon in to give himself a taste of the treat. She reached and closed her fingers over his.
“Let me.” She took the spoon from him and held it up for him to taste. Their eyes remained locked on each other. She watched the play of sensations across his face: the slight flaring of his eyes when he tasted the creamy mixture; the slight grimace when he bit into the berries; the look of absolute bliss when he finally swallowed the sweet concoction.
“I can tell why you love this. Words can’t describe it.”
“I know. Now feed me more,” she demanded with a laugh.
With each mouthful they shared over the next few minutes, Rochelle wanted to reach
over and kiss Daniel. There was something extremely sensual about watching another person enjoy your favorite dessert.
“Last mouthful,” he said mournfully as he held out the spoon toward her.
“You have it.”
She wasn’t sure what he had planned as he put the plate on the small table to the side.
He moved closer to her until his leg was brushing up against hers. The warmth from his body ignited the sensual fire that surrounded them.
“How about we share it?”
With his free hand, he gently cupped the back of her head. He brought his face closer until their lips were almost touching.
Her tongue darted out to lick a drop of cream that was threatening to fall. Daniel groaned, and the next instant the spoon clattered to the ground and he had his arms around her, his lips meshing with hers.
She wasn’t going to fight him. This was what she wanted. Had wanted all night since their first kiss when she walked into his suite. She climbed onto Daniel until she was straddling his legs. She dug her fingers into his hair, deepening the kiss. Her dress had crept up and she reveled in the feeling of his hands tracing lightly up the back of her thighs until he was cupping her ass.
She pulled her lips away, breathless from the heady rush of emotions that had enveloped her.
“I want you, Daniel,” she whispered against his lips. Summoning the courage to ask something she’d never voiced before in her life, she took a deep breath. “Make love to me.”

Thank you Nicole for including me in your blog tour!  Daniel's Decision is the second book by Nicole that I have had the privilege to read.  When I first began reading romance I read those small harlequin romances and Nicole's books remind me of those.  They are a quick read, that include a little angst, a little insta-love, and a lot of romance. The majority of this story is set in Australia and with the descriptive text, you can visualize yourself in the Australian rain forest. Who knew Australia had a rain forest?! Nicole writes relate-able characters that are mature; where the angst isn't petty or ridiculous, and is always settled quickly. While the Emerald Legacy Series books are stand alones, you will catch glimpses of other characters from the previous books.  I give Daniel's Decision 4 stars and the steamy-ness level is moderate with a few tasteful scenes.

Running on Empty by Colette Ballard

An interview with Justice and River from Running On Empty

What does it feel like when you die—in those final moments? Do you feel the physical pain, or just the pain of your regrets? What does it feel like when you realize you can’t answer these questions because you’re not the victim?

You’re the killer.

River Daniels lives an ordinary life as a high school junior growing up in the confines of rural Texas until her boyfriend’s brutal attack leaves her both a murderer and a fugitive. When River’s closest girlfriends come to her aid, they make a hasty decision to not only help her, but leave their own troubled lives behind and join in her escape.

The girls manage to elude police for months, but with every near-miss, River’s life spirals further out of control, until she finally hits rock bottom. Realizing she must stop endangering her friends and find evidence proving she acted in self-defense, the girls decide to make a risky move. River must face her ugly past and the one person she was protecting the night her world caved in, the guy she has loved for as long as she can remember.

My Interview!
Hey everybody!! I thought since Justice, River and I all live in Texas, I would surprise them for an impromptu interview.  My spies, I mean my sources, tell me Justice is in his barn feeding horses and that River will be there soon.
**knocks on barn door** and then I immediately go in.  Maybe I can catch him with his shirt off?
Justice sticks head out of horse stall, sees me and smiles, and what a smile that is.  Darn! Shirt is on, guess I’ll just have to try again next time.

Angie:  Hey Justice! It's me again.  Sorry about the whole stalker mix up last week. I promise I was just out, ummm, bird watching.  Yes, that's what I was doing.  I would never just randomly follow you around town and take pictures.  Nope, not me.  Sooooo, I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions, because inquiring minds need to know stuff.

Justice:  No problem Angie.  Sorry about the whole calling the police thing too.  I had no idea we had such rare birds in Texas.

Angie:  *mumbles*  You have no idea... *Big Smile* Ok, first question.  I know that you and River have been friends for a long time.  What is your favorite thing about River?

Justice:  * uneven dimple grin* I love that she’s tough, yet kind in all the ways that count.

Angie:  *stares* You just have the cutest dimple…. Oh! Sorry, my mind drifted a little.*hee hee* So Justice, do you think there will ever come a time that the two of you will be separated from each other, such as college?  Do you see this affecting your friendship?

Justice:  Nothing will ever come between us.  I’d never let that happen.

Angie: I think that’s awesome that you value y’all’s friendship that much.  I know that you’re about to head off to college, what is your dream job?

Justice:  I want to be a lawyer.

Angie: A lawyer? I can so see you in a courtroom, kinda like Matthew McConaughey in A Time to Kill.  Did I ever tell you about the time that Matthew and I….? I can tell by the look on your face that maybe we need to stick to the questions. *Ahem* Where was I? Oh! So I hear through the grapevine that you have a girlfriend. So I must ask, do you believe in love at first sight and do you think everyone has a soul mate?

Justice:  Yes to both.

Angie: You’re such a romantic! What are some of the characteristics that you look for in that special someone?

Justice:  Someone who’s easy to talk to, have fun with, to laugh with—like a friend.

Angie: So kinda like River? You might want to think about that....  Is it hard for you to express your feelings to those you love?

Justice:  No.

Angie:  Confession time! Who was your first crush?

Justice:  River. But don’t tell her.

Angie: *Big Smile* Your secret is safe with me *winks* Ok, this is a speed round. I am going to give you a word and you answer back with the first word that comes to mind.

River: best friend
Home: Dahlia, Texas
Billi Jo: off the hinges
Kat: fierce
Love: horses
Hate: dishonesty
Food: steak

Angie:  Thanks so much Justice for letting me interrupt your day.  Good luck with graduation and college.
**as I exit the barn, I literally run into River***
Angie:  River! I was just coming to look for you.  Do you have time for a few questions?  I promise I’ll be fast. Just a small girl to girl chat.

River: Sure….

Angie:  Justice and I were just talking and he had such nice things to say about you.  I love the close friendship that you share with him.  You have had each other to lean on for so much of your lives.  Do you think there will ever be a time that the two of you will be separated from each other?

River:  By distance maybe, but Justice will always be in my heart.

Angie:  That’s so sweet.  What is your favorite thing about Justice?

River:  Justice is trustworthy; I’d trust him with my life.

Angie:  So I hear you’re dating, Logan.*gives River a seriously-your-dating-that-creep look* What are some characteristics that you look for in a boyfriend?

River:  Someone who’s honest, considerate, kind. Someone who can make me laugh.

Angie:  And you’re dating LOGAN?!? Sorry. Sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Now that you’re in a relationship, when you think about Logan or the closeness you have with your friends, is it hard for you to express your feelings to those you love?

River: Yes.

Angie: Just between us girls *looks around for Justice*, who was your first crush?

River:  Justice.

Angie:  Ok, this is a speed round. I am going to give you a word and you answer back with the first word that comes to mind.

Justice: best friend
Home: My sister and friends
Billi Jo: fun!
Kat: badass
Love: horses
Hate: snakes
Food: extra cheesy pizza

Angie:  River, thank you for letting me ask you some questions today!  I know you’re in a hurry to check on your horse, Ranger *Justice comes out of barn* Oh hey, while I have both of you here I have one more question.  What is something you know about the other, that they don’t know you know?

River: That his last girlfriend cheated on him. He never mentioned it because he didn’t want to give me the chance to say “I told you so.” *shrugs* I told him.

Justice: I know she twists her finger around the hair at the base of her neck when she’s lying.

Angie: Perfect! Thanks again for letting me interrupt your day.  Good luck with the rest of your school year!

Colette grew up on a dairy farm in rural Kentucky. She survived the high school experience back in the day when Aqua Net was bought in bulk and mullets were cool. That’s also when she realized that her constant daydreaming wasn’t a curse, but a useful skill—one she used like a lethal weapon to combat her frustration over the haunting question: What does the alphabet have to do with math anyway? Unfortunately, her ninja daydreaming skills only increased her desire to write—not her algebra grade.

After surviving the hairstyles and torturous math classes of her high school years, she wandered a bit—even moving to the farthest northwestern corner of the United States, then to the farthest southeastern corner. She finally settled in the one red-light town she started in, where she continues to live today with her husband and three children.
