Tour: Heat by Penny ReidElements of Chemistry: HEAT is part 2 of a 3 part series (65k word novel) and ends in a cliffhanger.
**Blurb contains spoilers if you haven’t read Elements of Chemistry: ATTRACTION** Four days left. Private beach (…and boat). Not so invisible girl. And maybe less of a jerk-faced bully than originally thought. What’s the worst (or the best) that could happen? Kaitlyn is finding life outside of the science cabinet of obscurity to be quite illuminating …and so are her pants. When things heat up between Kaitlyn Parker and Martin—previously known as the jerk-faced bully—Sandeke, she places her trust in the one person she never thought capable of earning it, let alone keeping it safe. Fortunately or unfortunately for Kaitlyn, where she gives her trust she can’t help but also give her heart. But how will the world beyond the sanctuary of their newfound connection react to their relationship? Soon senators, chinless billionaires, and elements beyond Martin and Kaitlyn’s control want to weigh in on the young couple’s future. Navigating the chaotic inferno of new love might be more than Kaitlyn bargained for, and much, much more than her trust—or her heart—can handle.

About Penny Reid

Author-Photo-Penny-Reid-300x300SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing). By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

Two Review Thursday!

When Tess's mother abandons her during her senior year at high school, she must find a way to keep the secret and survive until graduation. She's surprised when Cruz, her crush and an aspiring model, moves in to help. Tess has dreams of studying in Paris, France and becoming a writer...impossible dreams without money or family. But as Tess and Cruz's relationship grows closer, Cruz will do anything to make sure Tess's dreams come true. But at what price?

Forever Now is the first book in the Forever young adult / new adult trilogy about finding love, living dreams, and overcoming great odds.

Forever begins now.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this story.  It's a little dark, a little heavy and to me, a little unbelievable.  I never connected to the characters and their relationship was strange.  The story ends with a semi-cliffhanger and Cruz and Tess' story will be continued into the next book.  Not sure I will read the next one.....

The last thing Valerie needs, after escaping an abusive marriage to an alcoholic and rebuilding her life, is a broody, secretive, standoffish man. But that’s exactly what she gets when she becomes a makeup artist on the set of a hit sitcom and draws the attention of the series’ star.
John Samuels hides a terrible past—a life of abuse and neglect. A successful acting career and the affection and support of cast, crew and friends, does nothing to convince him that he is anything other than an unlovable monster.
Will he learn that the life he’s been living has been built on a lie or will he be doomed to repeat the sins of his father?

This story never totally grabbed my attention.  The writing seemed to jump around and never fully connected with the characters.  I felt they were a contradiction.  ....... had an abusive relationship but was wanting to get intimate with...... soon after meeting him. ...... was a popular actor, yet had major insecurities that, to me, would interfere/hinder his job.  Honestly, I didn't finish the story.  The story wasn't for me, but don't let me discourage you if you would like to read it.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Do You Know......Catherine Gayle?

It's no secret here on the blog that I am a HUGE Catherine Gayle fan.  Her Portland Storm hockey series is one of my favorite series of all time.  Catherine knows hockey, she knows romance, and she knows how to write the best book boyfriends!  Recently I was lucky enough to read her latest release, Dropping Gloves.  If you're familiar with this hockey series, this is Jamie "Babs" Babcock's story.  I have been anxiously awaiting his story because Babs is a favorite of mine.  He is featured in each book and I think in each book I fell in love with him a little bit more.  I admit I was a little nervous reading his story.  You know how it is, you have a fave character and when you finally get their story you're nervous it won't be as wonderful as it should be.  Well, Catherine did an awesome job with Babs' story!  She kept Babs true to himself and his character.  His love for Katie never waivered, even when I think I would have given up on her.  The only thing I would have changed in this story was Katie and her time in Hollywood but that doesn't affect my 5 star rating (the book is that good!)  I don't want to go in to specifics because I don't want to post any spoilers, so you'll have to read Dropping Gloves yourself.  The love between these two was evident and it was great to see them get the ending they deserve. Catherine proved yet again that she knows her characters and she knows how to write a story that is unique and heartwarming. To purchase: Dropping Gloves

Let me introduce you to Catherine Gayle

Website/social media links:

My newest release: Dropping Gloves

Describe your books in 3 words: Emotional, heartfelt, uplifting

Genre: Contemporary romance (I also write some historical romance, but not much right now)

Favorite thing about your genre: I get to write about hockey!

A genre that I would love to write:  I’m happy writing what I am now. I might someday want to change genres, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

When writing, night owl or morning person? My cat wants me to be a morning person; I want to be a night owl; I end up writing the most in the afternoons.

When I’m writing I must have: Coffee, cupcakes (near deadline), and orange gummy bears (to get through the emotional stuff)

Pantser or Plotter? A bit of both? I have a general idea of where a book is heading, but I don’t typically plot out every tiny detail.

I’m currently reading: Carly Phillips’s Dare to Love series.

My guilty pleasure: Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter!

My favorite cover from my books: Holiday Hat Trick. It’s just perfection.

Which character from your books do you most identify with: It’s a toss-up between Brie and Dana, for very different reasons.

My number one book boyfriend is: Lord Dain from Lord of Scoundrels!

Come see me! I will be at the following book signings:
Romantic Times Convention in Dallas, May 2015
Kentuckiana Authors in Louisville, September 2015
Sexy and Sassy Signing in Greenville, October, 2015

My next release: Bury the Hatchet on July 9, launching a new spinoff hockey romance series

Getting Lucky Number 7

I have read several books by Cindi Madsen and they always leave me with a smile on my face and Getting Lucky Number Seven is no exception.  While the storyline is a little too predictable, the characters are quirky enough that you will fall in love with them from the beginning.  Lyla's transformation was fun and I loved her friendship with Beck.  Their friendship was different, but it worked and made for a good story.  If you like quick, fun, happily-ever-after romances then give Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen a try, you'll love it.

What's your lucky number?

Lyla Wilder is done being the shy, chemistry nerd extraordinaire. While every other college student is out having fun, Lyla is studying. With her cat. Well, she's played it "safe" quite enough, thank you. So she creates a "College Bucket List"―with item #7 being a night of uninhibited, mind-blowing sex...

But she needs some help from her man-whore best friend.

Hockey player Beck Davenport thought Lyla's transformation would be subtle. Man, was he wrong. With every item she ticks off, Beck finds himself growing seriously hot for his sweet, brainiac best friend. And if he's not careful, he'll end up risking their friendship in order to convince Lyla that he might just be her lucky #7...
